From the Sweetheart City to you....
I am so blessed to be living where I am. The city of Loveland, Colorado does a beautiful job every year to celebrate Valentines Day by the valentine re-mailing program.
If you are not familiar with Loveland's re-mailing program, people from all over the country/world can send their valentines to Loveland Post Office. There the valentines receive a special cachet stamp (see image below) and then are mailed to the valentine recipient.
For more details about the program, visit the Loveland Chamber of Commerce website here.
So why am I talking about valentines today? Because instead of writing a Christmas letter and sending at Christmas. I write a family letter and send at this time of the year so I can get the special cachet or buy the annual valentine and send to family and friends.
Christmas is such a crazy busy time of year for us that I decided several years ago to remove something from my plate and give myself a break and some breathing room. Removing that one thing (writing a letter, address, sending, etc.) from the expected Christmas To-Do list was life changing for me. Guilt, stress, obligation were replaced with fun holiday events and time with family and friends.
Now when I write my letter, I can focus on the close of one year and look forward to the promise of the next year. I can write my letter in the lull after Christmas (of course I procrastinate and wait until I need to print and mail it).
I hope that family and friends enjoy getting a random letter/card from us in February. Plus it gives me an opportunity to share something that is very unique to my community. The Loveland Valentine Cachet.
Sound like something you would like to do? Do you need help writing your letter, printing, addressing, or getting it into the re-mailing program.
